Olga Neuwirth’s opera Orlando, based on Virginia Woolf’s novel of the same name, is the first full-length opera by a woman celebrating its premiere at the Vienna State Opera. Olga Neuwirth, for a long time one of the great composers of the present, succeeds with this opera in creating a captivating arc across many musical genres. It’s an exciting, socially critical production by Polly Graham who puts a fantastically singing and playing Kate Lindsey in the center of the action.

CENDRILLON

With its combination of enchanting love story and broad, burlesque comedy, Massanet’s Cendrillon is one of the great operatic fairy tales – a Cinderella that looks back to Charles Perrault’s original story in all its richness and ambiguity. Directed by Fiona Dunn and conducted by John Wilson, with a cast led by Glyndebourne favorites Danielle de Niese as Cendrillon and Kate Lindsey as her Prince.

Les Contes d'Hoffmann

Bartlett Sher’s imaginative production at the Metropolitan Opera explores all the riches of Offenbach’s fantastical tale. Joseph Calleja is the poet Hoffmann who is enthralled by a variety of women—neither of which turns out to be the perfect creature he envisions. Kathleen Kim scales the vocal heights of the mechanical doll Olympia. Anna Netrebko literally sings herself to death as Antonia and also plays the diva Stella. Ekaterina Gubanova is the sultry courtesan Giulietta. Alan Held as the Four Villains and Kate Lindsey as Nicklausse. James Levine conducts this 2009 performance.

Les Contes d'Hoffmann

Tenor Vittorio Grigolo takes on the title role in Offenbach’s fantastical opera, giving a tour-de-force performance as the tortured poet unlucky in love. He is joined by a trio of leading ladies: Erin Morley sings the mechanical doll Olympia, Hibla Gerzmava is the fragile Antonia, and Christine Rice sings Giulietta, the Venetian courtesan. Bartlett Sher’s colorful production, seen here in its second Live in HD presentation, also stars Thomas Hampson as the sinister Four Villains and Kate Lindsey as Nicklausse, Hoffmann’s friend and muse. Yves Abel conducts this 2015 performance.

La Clemenza di Tito

From the Metropolitan Opera, Jean-Pierre Ponnelle’s dramatic production brings ancient Rome to life for this gripping tale of revenge, terror, and attempted murder. Giuseppe Filianoti is the Emperor Tito who chooses Servilia (Lucy Crowe) to be his Empress. But when she tells him she is already in love with Annio (Kate Lindsey) he decides to wed Vitellia (Barbara Frittoli) instead. Unaware of the honor about to be bestowed on her, Vitelllia, daughter of the deposed emperor, is determined to seek revenge on Tito and ensnares her lover Sesto (Elīna Garanča) in her dark plot. Early music specialist Harry Bicket conducts.

At the 2018 Salzburg Festival, Sonya Yoncheva brought Monteverdi's notorious antiheroine Poppea to life, with Kate Lindsey in the role of Nero.

This early Baroque masterpiece captures a dramatic episode from the life of the infamous Roman emperor Nero: the moment when his mistress Poppea rises to power, fired by their passionate romance and her zealous thirst for power. Maestro William Christie leads Les Arts Florissants, directed by Jan Lauwers.
